This August, Anglotopia founder Jonathan Thomas will set out to walk the length of Hadrian’s Wall — 84 miles across northern England, from Newcastle to Bowness-on-Solway — on a journey that is equal parts personal challenge, content initiative, and twenty-year dream finally coming true.
The walk along the Hadrian’s Wall Path National Trail will take roughly ten days to complete, following the line of the Roman frontier through some of the most spectacular countryside in Britain. It is a goal Jonathan has set and set aside for the better part of two decades — this time, it’s booked, it’s real, and it’s happening.
More Than a Walk
The expedition is as much about health and renewal as it is about content. Training for the walk has become a personal mission, and completing it is intended to usher in a new chapter for Anglotopia — one in which the company tackles one of Britain’s great long-distance trails each year and brings readers along for the journey.
The trip is being made possible with the support of Macs Adventure and SplashMaps, and will be documented across the entire Anglotopia network: a dedicated 10-part podcast series, coverage on the website and app, dispatches to the email list, and, very likely, a future book about walking the wall.
You can read more about the walk and Anglotopia’s wider plans for the year in Anglotopia’s Big Plans for 2026.
